The pattern for soil moisture levels closely follows the runoff maps, this is because precipitation is an important source of moisture in the soil. Feb to April the south eastern corner of the basin has higher estimates for soil moisture than the central area of the basin. From May to Sept only the most northern line of the basin has low soil moisture estimates. The Oct to Dec the north western part of the basin maintains soil moisture levels. The river system is large and contains some complicated habitats that support species indigenous to this river alone.
